An Investigation on the Positive Rate of HBs Ag. Among Healthy Korean Donors



Abstract
Distribution of hepatitis B antigen (HBsAg.) among the donors who in the prime of lifein Korea which may be one of the most prevailing area of hepatitis in the world, was. conducted from April 1st, 1979 to March 31st, 1980 for one year by Seroul Cross Blood. Service and its branch organs. The subject of the research are 66,460 persons who donated_ their serum to above institute and organs through out the country, and the results areas follows
1. The number of 3,734 from 66,460 persons proved to be positive, showing 5.62%, and the rate of the male was indicated 2.06% higher than of the female as the former marked 6.11% while the latter 4.05%.
2. The positive rate by the age group appears as follows ; The highest rate group isthat of 16^-¢¥20 age group, marking 10.14% and the next is 21-25 (4.67%6), those over 36(3.77%6), 26^30 (2.74%) and the group of 3135 (0.71%) records the minimum rate of all.
3. The positive rate by occupations is that the top class is on the others of firms? representing 8. 55%, and the order of the rest is staffs (7. 76%), the unemployed (6.12%/), the students (5.67%/), the merchants (1.37%).
4. The seasonal change is that it shows an eye-opening 5.97% in autumn (September, October and November), 5.76% in winter (December, January and February), 5.42% insummer(June, July and August), 5.38% in spring(March, April and May) on the overage.
5. The distribution by the types of blood, AB (5.86%), A (5.73%6), B (5.57%) , 0 (5.43%) is similar on the whole, and the remark able disparity among the types is not found.
6. The positive rate by the year represents that it was 3.44% in 1977, 4.36% in 1978¢¥ and 5.62% in 1979, indicating an increasing rate of 2.18% as a result.
